Neaira

Neaira was immortalised by the speech "Against Neaira". It's a political speech by Apollodorus, who could not prosecute his opponent Stephanos so targetted his partner instead. Neaira was accused of being courtesan and passing her children off as Athenian citizens (a very serious crime). But it's a very useful speech as it details the finer parts of some Athenian laws and is key evidence for people studying women in the Ancient world.
